چکیده
In this work we introduce the concept of Bures–Wasserstein barycenter Q∗, that is essentially a Fréchet mean some distribution P supported on subspace positive semi-definite d-dimensional Hermitian operators H+(d). We allow to be constrained affine H+(d), and provide conditions ensuring its existence uniqueness. also investigate convergence concentration properties an empirical counterpart Q∗ in both Frobenius norm distance, explain, how obtained results are connected optimal transportation theory can applied statistical inference quantum mechanics.

Nonhomogeneous Poisson processes (NHPPs) are often used to model recurrent events, and there is thus a need to check model fit for such models. We study the problem of obtaining exact goodness-of-fit tests for certain parametric NHPPs, using a method based on Monte Carlo simulation conditional on sufficient statistics. A closely related way of obtaining exact confidence intervals in parametri...
متن کاملProcrustean statistical inference of deformations
A two step method has been devised for the statistical inference of deformation changes. In the first step of this method and based on Procrustes analysis of deformation tensors, the significance of the change in a time or space series of deformation tensors is statistically analyzed. In the second step significant change(s) in deformations are localized. In other words, they are assigned to ce...
متن کاملParadigms for Statistical Inference
This paper expresses the different theories of statistical inference in terms of the competition between scientific paradigms as described in Kuhn (1996). The conflict among the major schools is examined in Kuhn’s terms, with extensive quotes, which helps to illuminate the discussion. Critical issues among the schools are evaluated with canonical examples. The scientific and social implications...
متن کاملAssumptions for Statistical Inference
In this paper we overview and discuss some of the important practical assumptions underlying statistical inference. What we say, though not new, is stressed insu ciently in teaching statistical methods and applications. We build on the important conceptual di erence between enumerative and analytic studies, emphasized by W. Edwards Deming. Our comments, however, go beyond the published views of...
